With the future of the Hume League season up in the air like the rest across the state, Henty jumped into the top six with just one round remaining, pending lockdown.
Henty enjoyed a 14-point win in a shortened game against Billabong Crows, while Howlong upset Lockhart by 26 points.
Howlong's upset occured just when the Demons looked to have booked their finals return after a huge win over the Swampies the week before.
Ohlin praised his playing group for not giving up on their finals goal.

"I was very thankful for the way the boys fought out the year and continued to front up for the challenges we've had in the last month with not having our Victorians at different times," Henty coach Heath Ohlin told The Border Mail.
"From a group perspective, we feel like we deserve to be in the finals and with our full list, we're a good enough side to compete in finals."
Meantime, former Collingullie-Glenfield Park premiership coach Luke Gestier bagged 12 goals in Holbrook's 192-point win over Murray Magpies on Saturday.
Osborne coach Joel Mackie made a timely return for the Cats in their 130-point win over Jindera.
Mackie kicked six goals in what was just his second game since May 8. The evergreen Matt Rava booted four goals and was best-on-ground.
