Member for Wagga Dr Joe McGirr said on Thursday that the current arrangement is "ridiculous", as Victoria recognises Wagga Council inside the bubble, while NSW does not.
And now Mr McFarlane has weighed in and wants the confusion around the current rules resolved, with the situation having a strong impact on business in the border communities.
As it currently stands, residents of Wagga Council have to self isolate themselves for 14 days when returning from communities in cross-border towns, such as Wodonga, which is in the bubble.
However, residents are allowed to travel into border towns within Victoria without isolating, due to Victoria's recognition of Wagga Council inside the bubble.
Although the state does remain in lockdown, with travel not recommended to Victoria at the current time.
"To have two different definitions of the border bubble creates confusion and reduces certainty, and therefore has a flow on impact for business activity and spending," Mr McFarlane said.
"By simplifying the definition so that both states recognise the same bubble concept, will improve conditions at an otherwise difficult time."

Mr McFaralne said they hoped to have the issue resolved in the near future, with experts on the topic even unclear on the matter.
"I'm talking to experts who know this stuff and people who are dealing with this day in and day out, and they are having to look at the two definitions," he said.
"If people who have a good understanding of the two definitions are finding it difficult, what hope does the average punter on the street have?"
