ONE of Lockhart Football Club's greatest ever teams will be recognised at the club's home game against CDHBU on Saturday.Lockhart will celebrate one of the club's proudest days when it holds a 50-year premiership reunion for the Lockhart Bulldogs' team of 1960.Some 50 years ago now, the Bulldogs as they were known then, defeated Wagga Tigers to win the Farrer League premiership. It was an upset win as Lockhart prevailed 16.14 (104) to 14.10 (84).On Saturday, the team will come together again for the first time since the momentous occasion.Lockhart's Jim Bouffler was an integral part of the premiership team and cannot wait for the big day."It's going to be a wonderful thing," Bouffler said."It's been initiated by the Lockhart Football Club and it's a great thing for them to do."Everyone I've spoken to is as pleased as punch."Hopefully the boys can win the footy on the day."One player will travel from as far as Western Australia for the event, and another from northern NSW.Four of the premiership team have unfortunately since passed away but some members of the deceased's family will make it.Another three of the players are also unavailable, including captain-coach Bernie Scully, who is too ill to attend. All the players will attend Lockhart's home game against CDHBU at Lockhart Sportsground on Saturday, then head for a special dinner at the Commercial Hotel later that night.Bouffler said there will be plenty of tales told on the day about the big win over Tigers."It was a good team," he said."We weren't expected to win it, Tigers had beaten us in the preliminary final and other games during the year."
