From March next year, residents will be able to play one of the world's most popular board games in a way that celebrates everything about their hometown, with an official Wagga Monopoly currently being created.
Dale Hackett from Winning Moves, the manufacturers of the Wagga edition under licence from Hasbro, said they want to hear from residents.
However, the game will look slightly different from the original version.
"It's very different to the London edition in the way we don't put streets on the property squares," Mr Hackett said.
"They will be made up of local businesses, whether cafes, restaurants, local schools, sports clubs, or museums.
"Effectively, they are the 22 best locations or experiences that people have to take advantage of when they are in the area."
Mr Hackett said he encouraged Wagga residents to jump on social media and have their say about what should be included.
"We like to include as many things as possible that the locals love," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We are taking public suggestions of what should actually be featured on the Wagga edition."
"We get very excited when we launch these regional editions for towns all over Australia."
The Wagga Monopoly will also include customised Community Chest and Chance playing cards. The creators said there would also be opportunities in the coming months for schools and individuals to get involved in creating the game.
Wagga mayor Greg Conkey said having the city's name linked to one of the world's most famous board games was an achievement.
"We are very much a unique city, and having achieved this recognition through such an iconic game is a fantastic opportunity for Wagga and the region," he said.
"This board game is renowned across the globe, and to have a special edition dedicated to Wagga certainly gives our city an even stronger presence on that map.
"I'm delighted to see the game's developers taking a chance on promoting well-known Australian regional cities."
