Young junior Angus Crichton will have to be adaptable both on and off the field after Wednesday's clash was moved from Newcastle to the Gold Coast due to escalating coronavirus concerns.
The Blues are still in camp at Kingscliff, and won't reach enemy territory until game day.
Crichton admitted it was disappointing not to play in front of the NSW fans this season.
"It's been a bit of a change going up to the Goldie but everyone is embracing it and are excited to get up there and play on Wednesday," Crichton said.
"Hopefully we can get a few Blues jerseys in the crowd being closer to the border. There are plenty of Blues fans in Kingscliff so hopefully they can make the trip up.
"It would have been nice to reward the rugby league diehards up in Newy but it wasn't to be."

Crichton and Liam Martin, who were both born in Temora, have retained their places on the bench for the Blues.
After missing game one through suspension, Crichton made a big impact coming off the bench as NSW wrapped up the series with a 26-0 victory.
He was thrilled to be part of the series win, especially after falling short against Queensland last year.
"I feel very lucky to be able to play in a team like this and represent my state," Crichton said.
"At the same time it's not something I take lightly so it's a massive honour for myself."
NSW head into the final clash without their halves pairing from the first two games with Nathan Cleary and Jahrome Laui ruled out through injury.
Mitch Moses comes in at halfback while Jack Wighton has been elevated off bench and into five-eighth.
Crichton is confident they will rise to the challenge.
"Mitch has slotted in really well, has been training really well but Jack has been around the boys for a long time now," he said.
"It's nothing new."
Dale Finucane also comes into the side for Daniel Saifiti.
