Henwood Park consolidated their position in the Pascoe Cup top four with a 3-2 win over Wagga United at Rawlings Park.
The Hawks bounced back to winning form after last week's 4-0 loss to Hanwood.
Menser said while Henwood Park were far from at their best, it was important to notch another three points.
"It was a scrappy game but they're a lot better than their position suggests so it was an important win for us, we couldn't afford to lose any points," Menser said.
"Happy to get away with three points."
Menser opened the scoring inside the first five minutes to give Henwood Park an early lead.
Wagga United, however, got a quick reply to level. The Hawks then surged ahead to lead 3-1, before United brought it back to 3-2.
That was all in an action-packed first half, with neither team able to add to the scoreline after the break.
Menser left the field in the second half with a quad injury. The 37-year-old hopes to miss just the one week.
"I'm just old," he laughed.
"Hopefully it pulls up alright. I'm not sure but it will probably keep me out of at least next week.
"Hopefully I'm back for Lake. I'll aim for that one."
Menser believes the loss to Hanwood the week before did have an effect on the Hawks.
"Yeah I think that took a bit of confidence off us," he said.
"We started pretty slow and we looked like it as well. Too many lapses, too many goals. We gave the ball away, we conceded. But we bounced back and got the three points so we're happy with that."

The win keeps Henwood Park in fourth position. They sit just two points off second-placed Leeton, and have now opened up a three-point buffer, plus goal difference, on fifth-placed Young.
"We've got South Wagga next week so if we can get three more points before we play Lake again that would be good," Menser said.
"You can't afford to lose any points to anyone behind us. We've just got to try and keep ahead.
"We've got a bit to work on but as long as we can keep picking up three points against those guys, it puts the pressure on Young, it puts the pressure on Lake and that's what we need to do really."
Meantime, South Wagga enjoyed one of the biggest wins in the club's Pascoe Cup history with an 8-0 thumping of Cootamundra at Wagga Showground on Sunday.
Hanwood continued their undefeated season with a 6-0 win over a determined Tolland in Griffith, while Leeton United maintained second spot on the table with a 5-1 win over Tumut at MIA Sports Field.
