The Dragons kept themselves in the fight for a return to finals football for the first time in over a decade as they finally delivered some points.
Not only did the 44-12 win over Albury at Greenfield Park on Sunday keep them ahead of Thunder but draws them two points behind fifth-placed Kangaroos.
McCrone doesn't want to focus on the ladder but was thrilled to see his side's attack start to flow.
"We've been building for a while and it was good we actually got some attack together this week," McCrone said.
"There were still some lulls and they got a couple of tries but it was good."

However he admitted it was far from a complete performance.
"I thought we were a bit loose in defence at times, which we haven't been in the last couple of weeks, and a bit of intensity that has been there wasn't but on the flip side of that the attack produced some points."
Before the clash, scoring 26 points in a narrow victory over winless Brothers had been their highest tally for the season however with James Stewart joining McCrone in the halves for a full game there was a big improvement.
Stewart and Jock Ward both scored doubles in the win.
The win sets up a massive clash with Kangaroos at Nixon Park on Sunday.
The Wagga club took a 30-10 victory the last time the two teams met, but have lost four of their six games since then.
McCrone is looking for another strong performance to give themselves the best possible chance of staying in the hunt.
"The ladder will work itself out and if we're playing good enough footy at the end of the year we will be in the five and if we're not we won't be," he said. "You can get stuck looking at ladders."
Meanwhile Albury have the bye before a clash with Gundagai at Anzac Park.
