The 'Roos are coming off a four-goal loss to second placed East Wagga-Kooringal, who earlier in the year beat them by almost 100 points, and things are looking positive after two games in the last four weeks.
"Definitely improving, absolutely, from the first half of the season to where we're at," Wooden said.
"We've had the double bye to get a few soldiers back too which has been a huge help. We're aiming for a few targets in the back half of the season.
"If we're to get off the bottom of the ladder - and that's what our aim is, not to be on the bottom at the end of the year - these are the teams to beat, that are just above us."

But Wooden added the Coleambally challenge is no mean feat and he expects the Blues to potentially be more fired up against Temora than some of the top five sides.
"It's a tough road trip. Even in the years when we had a really strong team, going over to Coly was never an easy game so I don't expect anything different. Our mindset from early in the week is that it's going to be tough," he said.
Wooden said Will Reinhold's return has been a huge help and Hubbard and Stimson will add plenty.
Defender Hubbard went down with a knee injury in round three.
"It's his first game back (in seniors). He's been working hard the last three weeks and it's good to have him back. He'll start at centre-half-back and he adds a bit more strength to our backline," Wooden said.
In particular, the Kangaroos will set their eyes on wins against the teams outside the top four, including Barellan, the Northern Jets and Charles Sturt University in the run home.
The Kangaroos went close to upsetting Charles Sturt University (sixth) last time they played but were thrashed by neighbours the Northern Jets (fifth) when well down on troops in the derby.
