Emma White started putting together bouquets in June 2019 and 12 months later, left a career in disability support work to pursue her passion full-time.
Her business, Emmylou Wildflowers, now has its own shopfront on the corner of Fitzmaurice, Gurwood streets.
"I started at the markets and doing all the work at home out of my metre-by-metre shed," Ms White said.
"Then in 2020, Ruby Tuesday had contacted me, and they had some space and said 'we would love you to share with us'.
"I was really lucky to take that on."
IN OTHER NEWS:
When Ms White opened up in the shared space with boutique Ruby Tuesday last year, it was in the midst of a pandemic. Nevertheless, she said it had taught her a lot about learning to adapt.
"It was a big risk, and with floristry, it's quite an events-focused business," Ms White said.
"We have been fortunate in regional NSW in many ways, but you still have to be quite creative in thinking of new ways to keep it running.
"In saying that, it was also one of the busiest times that I have had."
Equipped with the skills she learnt and a desire to keep chasing her dreams, Ms White wanted to open her own shopfront.
So six weeks ago, Ms White decided to sign a lease, and after ripping up the old carpet and painting the walls pink, she said the turnaround was rapid, and it was a "surreal" feeling.
Ms White said taking staged steps to opening her shopfront gave her a lot of self-assurance and also cut down the initial cost.
"I wouldn't be here if it hadn't happened the way it did," she said.
"I don't think I would have had the confidence.
"It's such a dream come true thought. It has taken a long time for me to figure out what I want to do. Now I get to wake up and do it every day."
