Just before 6pm on Tuesday, dashcam footage was captured by two trucks showing a silver-coloured 4WD over-taking one of the heavy vehicles and almost causing a head-on collision with the other.
The incident occurred on Tumbarumba Road, Ladysmith, near Gregadoo Road.
Officers attached to Riverina Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were notified and have since commenced an investigation to identify and locate the driver of the 4WD.
Executive director at Ron Crouch Transport, Geoff Crouch, said both of the trucks in the video were being driven by his employees.
"Both drivers were hugely shaken by the near-miss," he said.
"It's unfortunate that these things are an all too regular occurrence for the hardworking men and women going about their job.
"What can only be described as the sheer stupidity of the ute driver who through their selfish impatience nearly resulted in two trucking industry professionals not getting home."
Mr Crouch said that due to upgrades in infrastructure, incidents like this are becoming less common.
However, even one is far too many, and all drivers need to share the road.
"Everyone has right to depart on a journey and arrive at their destination safe and sound," Mr Crouch said.
"Regardless whether they are a professional truck driver or a member of the community, they have a right to get there safely.

"It's when you see these unexplainable lapses of judgment purely for being impatient that that principle is compromised."
Inspector Darren Moulds said he almost could not believe what he was seeing.
"I am appalled that a driver like this is prepared to put not only themselves and the occupants of their vehicles but other road users at risk," he said.
"When I first saw it, I was amazed. I don't know how a collision didn't occur."
Inspector Moulds said it was imperative for all road users to drive to the conditions, adding there have already been 10 fatalities in the police district this year.
He said highway patrol would continue to target unsafe behaviour on the region's roads.
"Most people drive appropriately," Inspector Moulds said. "It's the minority that puts other people at risk."
As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone who may have information to call Wagga Police on 6922 2599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
