After dominating early to lead by around ten goals at quarter time, the Bulldogs responded in the second quarter to take a narrow half-time lead.
But Coolamon steadied in the second half to remain just two points behind ladder leaders Griffith.
"All the top five are strong, since we played Turvey Park in round two they improved a lot," Hooper said.

"It's whoever plays well on the day, they're all great teams and it will be a great race to the finish line.
"We had a bit of a lull in the second quarter, but Turvey is a good little side and they're a team to watch out for heading into the finals as well.
"We got a kick up the bum in the third quarter and got it together again."
While the Hoppers would love to finish top and subsequently have to win just one final to make the decider, Hooper said it's not the be all and end all.
"Ideally all teams want to land on the top position, and as a team we possibly won't end up there, but fighting your way through finals isn't a bad thing," she said.
"Winning consecutive games can get confidence up, if we don't finish top our motto is to keep fighting."
