Canadian Greg Gangle will fill the void left after Graeme White's departure in October.
Gangle and his young family have already relocated to Australia but he is not expected to start in the new role until September.
Despite the lengthy period without the chief executive, Wagga president Terry McMillan is confident they've found the right man for the job.
"We're very exciting he is going to work for us if he gets everything cleared with immigration," McMillan said.
"He's got terrific credentials over there.
"He was working at the second biggest track in Canada but his wife wanted to come home to Australia."
