Emmanuel Dutack had the chance to score the only points of the second half but his seemingly regulation attempt faded wide of the uprights in the final 10 minutes of the clash.
Instead it was the Wagga side who brought up their sixth straight win to set up a showdown with the only team to get the better of them so far, Wagga City, on Saturday.
Coach Michael Davis was pleased to come out of the tough clash with another win.
"It was a very good contest and they were certainly up for it," Davis said.
"We took a little while to get going but after a good chat at half-time it put us in a different mindset.
"It was never going to blow out as they were very physical in attack and defence."

Instead of Dutack being the hero it was a piece of Will Wennerbom brilliance that proved to be the difference between the two sides as he kicked ahead for himself and scored leading into half-time.
They were to be the last points of the game however Davis was pleased with how his side adjusted in the second half to hold on for the win.
Waratahs sit four points clear on top of the ladder but Wagga City has a game in hand after their clash with Albury was postponed.
No new date is yet to be finalised.
Waratahs went into the clash without halfback Gerard McTaggart but were well served by the returning Dan Selmes and James Daley.
Sam Bunny also played his first game in almost years for the club.
Davis is looking forward to having him back in the side.
"He was sick and tired of sitting on the sidelines and wanted to have a run and it's good to have him back as he's a quality," Davis said.
"We will see how he goes over the next few weeks."
Meanwhile Albury escaped with a 21-15 win over Ag College at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday.
An undermanned Aggies put in one of their best performances of the season but it wasn't enough against the third placed Steamers.
Albury had Uraia Vuluma red carded for dissent in the second half, after Tully MacPherson-Peacock was handed a yellow card earlier in the game.
However they were able to hold on to bring up their fifth win of the season.
It sees Albury move nine points clear of fourth-placed Griffith and six points shy of Wagga City.
The Blacks will be looking to add to their five-point buffer over Tumut when they meet at Exies Oval on Saturday.
