The Blues breathed life into their ailing season last Saturday when they produced a big last-quarter comeback to down Charles Sturt University.
Steele said not only the win, but the manner in which they did so, has put a spring back in the step of both Coleambally players and supporters.
"Confidence is high at the moment around the club, with supporters and players," Steele said.
"It's a pretty good start to the second half of the season, which is what we needed if we're going to keep our finals hopes alive. Positive signs at this stage."
The win has ensured the talk of finals has returned at Coleambally, despite still sitting two games plus significant percentage outside the top five.
"A win like that, coming from behind when we were 30 points down, it gives a lot of belief to the younger kids that were running around. It makes a hell of a difference," Steele said.
"Obviously we're taking it step by step, week by week, at this stage. Obviously finals is our goal but we've just got to focus on week by week.
"It would be awesome to make finals after the start we've had and the injuries we've had, it would be a really good performance to get there."
Steele knows a win over The Rock-Yerong Creek at Coleambally on Saturday could have huge implications for their season.

He also believes the Blues have it in them to cause an upset.
"Yeah I think we do. On our day we do," he said.
"Our challenge now is to obviously play a lot better through four quarters of footy, which on the weekend we did show that we dropped off for five or 10 minutes in the third quarter and they kicked a fair few goals on us. Apart from that it was pretty even. If we get that lapse out of our game we probably can.
"If we can stick with The Rock for four quarters, I think we can hopefully get over the top of them."
Coleambally will lose former coach Tom Groves for the next few weeks. Scans this week confirmed a couple of broken bones in his face, an injury he sustained in the win over the Bushpigs last weekend, but he does not require surgery.
Having also lost Tom Morton a couple of weeks earlier out of their defence, it means Coleambally may have to reshuffle a few things to bolster their defence.
"Our key backs from last couple of years have been playing forward for us," he said.
"Jimmy Lyell will go back down back, Tommy Mannes is back from injury and played last week. We've got plenty of depth in our backline. We've got plenty of options."
The Rock-Yerong Creek will be without the unavailable Jordie Kemp, but will get Shannon Williams back.
Steele believes the weather conditions, and potentially the four and a half hour trip from Canberra to Coleambally, will favour the home team.
