HULL A 'GREAT REPRESENTATIVE'
I have never had the opportunity to meet Kay Hull and furthermore I traditionally I vote on the other side.

I do, however, recall her great courage in crossing the floor with the Telstra debate, unlike the former Member for Hume who abstained from the vote.
He may be now deceased but this certainly was not his finest hour and as a constituent I felt totally let down.
Well done Mrs Hull as you were a great representative for your constituents.

LEADERS ATTEMPT TO SAVE FACE
Malcolm Fraser offered a welcome to desperate people escaping the horror of war in Vietnam, a truly compassionate action.
Later Bob Hawke offered a safe haven to Chinese students after the Tiananmen Square attack on young protesters.
We now have a situation where our federal leaders would apparently prefer to spend more than $6 million detaining a family, two members of which are Australian born, all presumably to "save face".
I recall Kevin Rudd declaring that boat arrivals would not be allowed to stay in Australia, an attitude which appears to be strongly supported by Scott Morrison et.al.
Those two men are proud and open about their Christian beliefs; have they ever read the parable of the Good Samaritan?

'FOOLS' ON THE WORLD STAGE
It's too late to debate whether you believe in anthropogenic climate change.
Our little men have made great fools of themselves on the international stage.
It's now too late for us to make choices, they will be made for us by tariffs, embargoes and treaties made by other countries.
Our hollow men due to their inaction on a transition immediately away from fossil fuels now bring you;
- Rising insurance premiums;
- Cuts to essential services like Medicare and NDIS;
- Increases in electricity prices;
- Increased cost of living;
- Decreases in habitat, more disease, more plagues, more crime, more homeless families.
We have the opportunity and resources to possibly save ourselves but our elected representatives prefer gods over the best economics, science and ethics.

NEED TO CHANGE THE NARRATIVE
Robert T Walker is delighted to share my past error on Greens policy ("Check policies before voting", The Daily Advertiser, June 14).
However, he has omitted that I sent in an immediate apology and retraction.
If you make a mistake, own it and rectify it.
I have also posted a link to the Greens policies on this paper's Facebook page, so that the vocal few, like Walker, can check the information on federal policy.
This doesn't detract from the need to change the narrative about climate change and many other issues, to one of whether people understand what is happening, rather than one of what they choose to believe.
