Already without Country centre Cody Hodge, the Bulls went into the clash without Daniel Foley and Connor McCauley, but it was their lack of ball handling that really hurt against Gundagai.

Captain-coach Nathan Rose thought the side were their own worst enemy, especially when trying to come out of trouble.

"There were too far many errors and every time we looked to build a bit of momentum and pressure we seemed to come up with an error of some sort," Rose said.

"We are in the middle of the season now so we need to fix that up to ensure we are playing some good footy and just turning over cheap ball towards the end of the year."

Siegwalt dislocated his finger midway through the second half of the 20-12 loss.

However X-rays have cleared him of further damage.

"I went to Gundagai Hospital and they put it back in and they said it went back in pretty easy," Siegwalt said.

"I've had an X-ray done and it came back with no fractures."

Siegwalt expects to be right to take on Young at Laurie Daley Oval on June 19.

Foley and McCauley should also be back after the Bulls adopted a cautious approach leading into the bye.

"We thought it would be best to rest them with the long weekend coming up," Rose said.

"It was more of a precaution."

The 20-12 defeat was their second loss of the season, with the first a 44-28 loss to ladder leaders Tumut.

It sees the Bulls two points below the Blues and just above the Cherrypickers on points differential.

Gundagai are a win further behind.

Showing the closeness of the competition so far, the top four sides have very similar defensive records.

Southcity has the best, conceding 114 points through the first eight rounds of the season, with Young the worst with 124, but the Cherrypickers have played an extra game.

Rose is confident his side can set themselves up for a big back end of the season.

"We're definitely in the mix of it, there is no doubt about that, but if you turn over cheap ball in the bigger games you do yourself no favours," he said.

"We just need to fix up that area and we'll get back in the winners' circle off the back of that."
