After breaking it in the opening minutes, Fairall played most of the loss to Young on Sunday with the problem.
Gundagai co-coach Luke Berkrey believes it shows the attitude of the teenager in his first season in the top grade.
"He certainly played very tough to get through the game and really represents what being a Tiger is all about," Berkrey said.
Fairall came into the side for James Luff (ankle) and now Mark Elphick will slot into hooker to take on Southcity at Anzac Park on Sunday.
The changes see Josh Smith come into the second row with Royce Tout pushing up into the front row.
Berkrey had been hopeful of getting some of their long injury list back for the clash against the ladder leaders, including himself, but with the general bye ahead will err on the side of caution.
"With the bye coming up next week it's probably taking a risk to get guys back who are on the edge," he said.
"Having this week off to get a couple of weeks off his probably the smart decision but if anyone of them is right they will play."
