Sam Carwardine missed a late penalty goal from directly in front to give Aggies the lead over CSU in the university grudge match.
However he then slotted a much tougher chance to give his side a 21-20 win at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday.
Carwardine scored twice to start the season half to give Aggies the lead back only for CSU to respond.
Dean Smart crashed over to put Reddies back in front with 16 minutes to play.
However they couldn't find the killer blow to fall to their seventh straight loss this season.
Carwardine kicked a penalty goal in the first half but couldn't convert any of his side's three tries.
After a regulation miss with five to play, he admitted there were plenty of nerves lining up another shot. He was relieved to get the job done.
"I was more relieved than anything as there was a bit of pressure but I was just glad I could knock one over that counted," Carwardine said.
"I did my best to make it tough for myself by missing the one in front but luckily the last one went through."

It was Ag College's second win of the season.
It's been a tough return to play for the club, who sat out last season, with their two tight wins coming against CSU.
However coach Elliott Barrett was pleased with how the side responded in the second half.
"It was a bit touch and go earlier on but we pulled through and are starting to show a bit of fight," Barrett said. "It's really positive.
"We opened really well in the first 15 minutes, took our foot off the pedal a little bit and weren't accurate with what we were doing so it was really impressive to see the team react and get back in the game.
"It could have been a big scoreline the other way but it was a credit to their fight."
Ag College had a number of faces from their 2019 grand final loss in action.
While Matt Harris and Will Whiteley will remain with the club however there are doubts over whether former Bill Castle Medal winner Cam Duffy, who was very influential early, will return.
Ag College now have a long break with a bye next week ahead of the general bye for the June long weekend.
Their next clash will be against Waratahs on June 19 to start the second half of the season.
Meanwhile CSU tackle Waratahs on Saturday looking for their first win.
