Flack, a Saints premiership player, is with Albury Tigers this year but will make a one-off appearance for his junior club after the Ovens and Murray League was placed on hold due to COVID.
He's been training with the Saints every Thursday night and was the answer staring them in the face amid a midfielder shortage.
Jack Flood is unavailable, recruit Dylan McDermott is still sidelined with a knee injury and coach Cayden Winter popped the question once he knew he needed another week off himself.
"I was talking to Wiz (Winter) and he said, 'Do you want to have a game?' I said, 'Bloody oath'," Flack said.
"We've had a double bye and now there's no game this week. It'd be three weeks without a game so I thought I might as well play."
Albury approved Flack playing on a permit on Friday afternoon, in a big result for the Saints.
"It's massive for us, especially with a couple of injuries and Floody out. To have him coming in, being a junior and he trains with us, it was a no-brainer," Winter said.
"It might've been a different story thinking about a one-off game for a bloke who hasn't been around the club. We all know him.
"I just want him to play his usual brand of footy. He's been doing his thing in the O and M and I just want him to bring that."
Second spot on the ladder is at stake for the third-placed Saints. Winter said, after their loss to the Northern Jets two weeks ago, the pressure is on not to drop a third game.
Flack is happy to help out but said his sights remain firmly on the border league.
He played two senior games for Albury Tigers but went back to the seconds after an injury. He's had four reserves games since and been in their best in three.
"It's just been unreal. The coaching - Anthony Miles, with his experience, and Luke Daly, I've learnt a fair bit. And the style of footy in seniors, it's pretty good," Flack said.
"It's been good. It'd be better if I could crack a spot."
The Ovens and Murray intends to resume on June 12, but North Wagga have a club bye next week.
Meanwhile, Barellan coach Alex Lawder says their trip to Coleambally is an important one, as both teams chase a second win this season.
"It's big for us, being where we're at, and we're Coly's at," Lawder said.
"We're under no illusions that nothing comes easy for us so we know we're going to work and Coly's going to be coming hard at us.
"It should be a good battle."
The Two Blues lose Melbourne-based ruckman Mitch Gorman as well as Jack Tyrell but Ben Cleaver and Mick Lovett are big inclusions.
Lawder said East Wagga-Kooringal were very impressive in their attitude and execution at Barellan last week, bringing the home side down to earth after their win at Temora.
However, he was pleased with the Two Blues being able to kick 10 goals against a top team.
"It's the old cliches, being stronger for longer and that sort of thing," Lawder said.
"We're improving and I've said to the boys, 'Rome wasn't built in a day'."
