The Riverina Police District established Strike Force Twyford to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash on March 21, 2020.
Their investigations led detectives to confirm the driver had attended a licensed premises in Temora the previous evening.
Last November, local police arrested two people, alleging that the deceased had been given alcoholic drinks by both the licensee, Kathleen Patricia James, and a patron, James Douglas Reid.
Due to car trouble, Reid, whose listed address is Wee Waa in the state's north-west, did not show at Temora Local Court on Wednesday for sentencing.
The 25-year-old had pleaded guilty to a charge of a person unrelated to licensed premises supplying liquor to a minor during an earlier court appearance.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Documents tendered to the court reveal Reid and his friend regularly attended licensed premises together, and on one occasion, the hotel staff had asked the minor to leave when he was in the company of Reid.
On March 20, 2020 the duo travelled to a Temora hotel so Reid could visit his partner Kathleen James, who was the licensee.
At 6.15pm that day, Reid ordered two schooners of Great Northern beer from bar staff and supplied one to the minor who consumed it in the main bar area.
At 8.12pm, Reid was again served two schooners of Great Northern and supplied one of those beers to his companion, who consumed it on the premises.
Then at 11.46pm, Reid ordered two glasses of vodka with a Red Bull mixer before going to the rear courtyard to give one to the minor.
The minor was the sole occupant of a car when it rolled in the Temora region on March 21, 2020.
Emergency services, including police, responded, but the young man died at the scene.
On Wednesday, Magistrate Jillian Kiely adjourned the sentencing to Young Local Court on June 22.
"If he is not here, I will issue warrants," she said. "There are no further adjournments."
Kathleen James has pleaded guilty to several charges, including selling and supplying liquor to an underage person, and is due to be sentenced in Newcastle Local Court on June 8.
