Both football league heavyweights are unbeaten after four rounds, with the Goannas looking to repeat their title in their maiden season last year.
But the Aces, last year's grand finalists, are building strongly with the likes of Ash Reynoldson, Abbey Corbett and Hannah Finemore all returning to the line-up after missing the start of the season.
The Aces were too strong for Shooting Stars 73-37, and are outright third with a 3-1 record.
"We're starting to get our regular players back. The team is half young and half experienced players and this week was the first time I've really seen those combinations starting to jel together," Reynoldson said.
"There's a lot of variety too, it's quite exciting to see what different line-ups I can put on the court depending on what team we play."

Reynoldson said the team is keen to prove to the football league-based sides they can compete with them.
"The advantage they've got is they're teams that have played together now for a few years. They're quite well jelled already, but we'll be competitive with them," Reynoldson said.
"We've got the skills, we just need to get those combinations going. We've definitely got the experience and the netball heads, we just need to make it work for us.
"I've always been involved with Wagga netball and I'd like it to be a prominent competition in our area, for sure."
In other games MCUE accounted for New Kids Attack 52-26, CSU beat Uranquinty 60-30 and Turvey Park defeated Nixons 53-38.
