The Tigers leader will miss the clash with Kangaroos at Equex Centre on Saturday after injuring his hamstring in the win over Brothers.
With games against Young and Southcity to come, Berkrey hopes it won't sidelined him for too long.
However in a worrying sign the issue is in the same right leg that threatened to derail last year's campaign with an adductor issue and has been a source of a calf issue this year.
Jake Elphick comes into the front row for Berkrey.
Gundagai also welcome back Dane O'Hehir from Country representative duties.
They are the only changes for the premiers, who were left without any fit replacements on Sunday.
"It is good to put the same team out a couple of weeks in a row to start building some combinations and continuity," Berkrey said.
"Every week is an important week for us."

However the Tigers are still without winger Jack Lyons with his knee injury worse than first thought.
Lyons will seek further advice after MRI scans revealed more serious damage.
Kangaroos are also faced with changes after halfback Tyler Jones injured his shoulder in the 30-10 win over Temora last week.
Coach Simon Woolford admitted scans were worse than hoped for their new face but they aren't sure of the full extent of the damage.
With a bye on the horizon, Kangaroos are one of four sides sitting on six points.
Gundagai are also in that group.
Kangaroos fired late, crossing for four tries in the last 15 minutes and Woolford is looking to pick up where they left off against the Dragons.
"It's going to be a big test coming up against Gundagai, who have hit a little bit of form," Woolford said.
"It's important for us as it's literally a four-point game for us."
With Jones out James Strickland will move into halfback.
However Woolford is still trying to work out who shifts into the centres.
Berkrey was pleased with his team's defence, after scoring 42 unanswered points against winless Brothers, and hopes the club can keep building up against Kangaroos.
"They longer we hold the ball the better we are going and with our defence I thought we did a really good job to only let in a try off a kick and a try off an intercept," he said. "We are certainly moving in the right direction with our defence and hopefully we can take any step forward with that."
