The Wanderers enjoyed some relief after a tough start to their NPL Two title defence with a 4-2 win over the White Eagles in Canberra on Sunday.
It opened the Wanderers' account for the season after five consecutive losses to start the season.
"I'm absolutely stoked for the boys. Words can't describe it. The boys have been working so hard at training, just to get something out of it today is absolutely amazing," Leonard said.
Leonard was forced to be fed through score updates from afar with a rare Sunday fixture ruling him out due to work commitments.
Andrew Douglas took charge in the win.
The White Eagles were reduced to 10 men after just 12 minutes when goalkeeper Ryan Brose was red carded.
The scores were level at 1-1 at half-time, but the Wanderers were able to pile on three goals after the break to bring up their first win of the year in style.
Goal difference has the Wanderers still on the bottom of the table but another win against seventh-placed Brindabella at Gissing Oval on Saturday would lift them at least one spot.

"We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, of course," Leonard said.
"We play Brindabella at home, thank god, next week. They're travelling ok, they've recruited really well and we played them in the FFA Cup and we played exceptionally well to get away with that one so we know it's going to be tough but again, if we can get something out of it, because with the way the results have been going, it could put us right back in the mix.
"If we can keep improving and keep building, the top teams are probably a step ahead of us but if we can get to a point where we're giving them a hard time then that's what we want."
Leonard conceded there was some tough moments during the opening six weeks of the competition but maintained belief that they would come out the other side.
"It has been but we know we've been slowly building and even last week when we played Queanbeyan and they beat us 6-1. It didn't reflect how the boys played," he said.
"We could see it building. Around the squad at training, they've still been really good, the boys knew how important it was to get something out of (Sunday).
"At the same time too, we haven't had our full squad yet. We just had to take something out of (Sunday)."
The Wanderers take on Brindabella at 2.15pm at Gissing Oval on Saturday.
