After giving up a 10-0 lead to fall to their first loss since round two, McCrone didn't think the side took advantage of the strong breeze in the first half.
However the 30-10 scoreline hasn't deterred him.
"There was a fair bit to take out if it," McCrone said.
"It was in the last 10 minutes when they ran over us but you can't knock our effort.
"We're thin on troops at the minute and a couple of injuries with a small squad makes a big difference."
With Matt and Grant Hughes plus Nick Trevaskis nearing their returns, McCrone is hoping to have a few more troops at their disposal for a clash against former club Young at Nixon Park next Sunday.
"One or two more fresh bodies for us will be massive," he said.
"If we can get a few more back I'm confident with what we can do with the ball."
