After overcoming a knee complaint Herangi, who plays with a pacemaker, returns for Kangaroos as they look to respond to heavy loss against Southcity.

Despite a long list of health issues, which also includes having a blood clot in his lung, Herangi will take his place against Temora at Equex Centre on Saturday.

"So many doctors have (said not to play) ever since I was younger so it's nothing new," Herangi said.

"I've got used to it.

"I just like the competitiveness and culture.

"That's what brings me back. Being around the boys and it gives you something to do."

Diagnosed with a heart condition in his childhood, Herangi had two heart attacks as a teenager before getting a pacemaker inserted.

One was after footy training back home in New Zealand.

He also suffered a minor stroke at Wagga City training last year but doesn't intend on slowing down any time soon.

"I just love it, it's fun and my brothers play too so it is a way to stay connected," Herangi said.

Herangi linked with Junee in 2019 before playing for Wagga City last year.

He hopes to be able to play in both competitions once his six-week suspension from Southern Inland expires after the weekend.

It was through his Diesels connection with Dakota Ruta and Shawn Ray Pafalani he joined Kangaroos this season as well as playing under Simon Woolford.

Woolford elected for a cautious approach with Herangi's knee last time out but is looking forward to seeing what he can do for longer periods.

"We need to get him fit and get his body right because he is a damaging player when he's right," Woolford said.

"Hopefully not playing him against Southcity with the bye after that has done the trick for him."

Herangi coming back into the starting side is a number of changes for Kangaroos after their 38-8 loss.

Brayden Sharrock also returns to the front row while Liam Fitzsimmons gets his shot at fullback.

James Strickland, who was at the back last time, moves into the centres with Timoci Vatubuli out.

"Liam is one of those guys who is equally comfortable in seven, six or one and is a very good player," Woolford said.

"He wasn't available for us against Southcity with a small tear in his quad otherwise he would have played there but he's fit and ready to go."
