With Aggies short on five-eighth options, Barrett slotted into the number 10 jersey for the trip to Tumut, but it's not something he wants to do in the long run.
"I was pretty ordinary and I think we would have won if I wasn't playing," Barrett said.
"We've got a few injuries and people away so I'm still trying to figure it out but I kept dislocating my shoulder on the weekend so I don't really want to (play) but I will if we can't find anyone else."
Ag College couldn't quite back up their first win of the season after falling to a 15-10 loss at Jarrah Oval last week.
However Barrett is confident the club is heading in the right direction after two heavy defeats to start the season.
"There were a lot of positives from it as we really matched up to a much bigger side," he said. "We were good carrying the ball, the best we've carried all year, and our systems are starting to come together, which is nice, but we just weren't able to execute our set piece which proved a bit costly.
"We got pushed off the ball a few times in scrums and lost most of our line outs.
"We undid a lot of the good work our forwards were doing carrying the ball but it was still our best performance of the year so we're improving each week."

While he's pleased with the improvement shown, their set piece play is something Ag College need to improve, and quickly, ahead of a clash with unbeaten Wagga City at Conolly Rugby Complex.
There plenty of uncertainty surrounding Ag College's line up with Pat Lemmich and Alex Farquhar both carrying injuries concerns.
However one thing is for certain - Aggies are bracing for a tough test.
"City are the best team in the comp so they will be very tough but it is an exciting challenge for our boys," Barrett said.
"I know whoever takes the field will give absolutely everything they've got."
In other games CSU are looking for their first win of the season when they host Griffith at Beres Ellwood Oval while Albury are out to bounce against Tumut at Murrayfield.
