Emily Lavis and Demi Taylor have received AgriFutures Horizon Scholarships.
Ms Lavis was awarded the Emerging Industries sponsored scholarship which will contribute $10,000 over two years to her studies.
The 21-year-old is now in her penultimate year of a bachelor of agricultural sciences at the Wagga campus after relocating from her home in Braidwood.
"I'm interested in beef cattle [and] technology, there's always room for improvement in farm production technolgoy," Ms Lavis said.
"I've grown up on a farm, I've always known I wanted to do something in ag, like most kids from the land I suppose."
Other education stories:
Nearly 100 other students from across Australia applied for scholarships but only 20 were awarded funding.
In July the scholarship recipients will meet together with industry professionals for a four-day workshop in Albury.
"[I'm excited to] meet industry leaders and have placement opportunities, it's all networking," Ms Lavis said.
"You never know when you're meeting all these people where you'll end up 10 to 15 years from now."
Returning to face-to-face meetings has made a significant change for the student following the past year of COVID-imposed at-home study.
"The start was hard to transition to online [learning]," Ms Lavis said.
"We were lucky that we could come back in September for six weeks of pracs, but it was intensive. That's usually spread over the semester."
