The Dialysis Centre will be moved to the new Wagga Wagga Health Services Hub, leaving the building on Yathong Street free to host the city's COVID Clinic.
The clinic was relocated as of Saturday April 24, and anyone needing to get tested will now be directed to the new site which is in the vicinity of Wagga Base Hospital.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The building has on-site parking, something that was a concern at the Showground and can be accessed from the back lane for privacy.
It also has the space and facilities to employ the same number of staff who worked at the showground, and the MLHD is confident testing capacity will remain the same.
"With the imminent opening of the Wagga Wagga Health Services Hub, the building previously used for care of renal patients is now available," said MLHD COVID-19 Coordinator Emma Field.
"This is a great opportunity to co-locate our COVID-19 Testing Clinic on the Wagga Wagga Health Services campus."
Ms Field added that though much attention has been shifted to the vaccine rollout, members of the community should remain cautious of COVID-like symptoms and come forward for testing if they are exhibiting any of them.
The new site will be open seven days a week from 9am to 2pm, with appointments available through the COVID-19 hotline: 1800 831 099.
Other testing sites in and around Wagga will remain operational, with the COVID-19 Respiratory Clinic adjoining the Glenrock Country Practice still conducting tests on-site, as are the respiratory clinics in Griffith, Deniliquin, Gundagai, Tumut and Young.
