The two teams featured in the last clash Aggies took part in, the 2019 grand final, but this time it was a one-way at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday.
Waratahs coach Michael Davis was unsure what to expect but was pleased to come away with a 45-0 win.
"It was a big win and I didn't know what to expect to be honest from the first round," Davis said.
"We were pleased with the win but probably needed a bit more polish at times.
"Decision making was a but wayward but a first round win is always good."

Waratahs have plenty of new faces in their line up with both Isimeli Koroi and Waisea Rogoyawa crossing for two tries each.
Luke Seruwaqa was strong at number eight while Harry Tyson also impressed at five-eighth in the first game for the club.
However Davis is looking for better ball security when Waratahs travel to Yenda to face Griffith, who also didn't play last season, on Saturday.
"We've still got a lot work to do with our structures," Davis said.
"We did keep them to nil, which is one thing we did focus on defensively - a bit of pride in the try line. So that was pleasing."
Meanwhile Albury signalled their return to first grade with a 41-12 win over CSU.
Reddies put in an improved showing last season but struggled to match it with the Steamers early.
Coach James Kora was pleased with how they started the season.
"It was a great start and there were some promising signs there," Kora said.
"We all know we can only get better if we keep working on it but it was a great return to first grade for the club and the club was stoked to come away with three wins."
Kora was pleased with the how the side stuck to their game plan.
Especially with a number of new combinations starting to gel early.
"In the pre-season it was a bit tough and it was hard to get them going but they actually came out of the sheds firing, which was pretty pleasing," Kora said.
"Sticking to the game plan was good to see."
The Steamers elected to play second grade last season and a number of those players really stepped up to the top grade at Beres Ellwood Oval.
Teenager Seb Benson impressed at scrumhalf in his first grade debut, Sailasa Vakarau was another good performer while captain Ryan O'Sullivan controlled the forward pack.
Kora is looking for more of the same when they host Ag College on Saturday.
Premiers Wagga City will be in action for the most time against CSU.
