After last year's competition was cancelled due to COVID, the Farrer League will return on the weekend with the Jets to begin their campaign against a fellow youthful outfit in Marrar at Langtry Oval.
New is well versed at working with young players after spending time with the clipboard at her junior club Temora Kangaroos, and has spent the last few years mentoring Canberra Grammar School players.
The defender has also held a role with Netball NSW as a development officer where she delivered school holiday clinic, and captained University of Canberra.
She will be assisted with coaching on the sidelines by Jets stalwart Caroline O'Brien.
"That's one thing (playing and coaching) I'm waiting to see how I go at, but I'll have lots of support on the bench," she said.
"We're a young team but we're all really excited for the season. All the girls missed out on netball last year due to COVID, so everyone's ready to get back into it.
