Ten days out from the return of the Farrer League, Charles Sturt University coach Travis Cohalan says they've taken positives out of pre-season trials against Riverina League opposition, and inspiration from the club's women's team which plays its grand final.

CSU is gunning for another premiership in the Southern NSW Women's League when they take on North Wagga on Thursday night.
"It's an exciting week for the club. We'll go and watch the girls in the grand final and wish them all the best," CSU (men's) coach Travis Cohalan said.
"They were a big part of our pre-season, they trained with us from mid-November until after Christmas and it was good. We built that bond and we're hoping they go well."
As for Cohalan's team, they've had hit-outs against Narrandera and Turvey Park in March, going down by around three goals to the Eagles and then sticking fairly close to the Bulldogs for three quarters.
"I'm very happy, to be honest," Cohalan said. "This time of year we were never going to be able to get our full team available...
"But the way we played in both trials against quality opponents - the Riverina League which we understand is a little bit better than the Farrer League - so being able to hold our own for large chunks of those games has been really promising."
Andrew Dickins has been strong in the ruck and Grant Daly through the middle and their fellow new faces Max Findlay (forward and on-ball), Jacob Collingridge (forward), and Cayleb Dunne-Argus have also made good early impressions.
The Bushpigs expect to be full strength when they hit the road to Coleambally when the season begins on Saturday April 10.
"It's been a bright start, understanding that the real stuff starts next weekend and trial form is only one side of it," Cohalan said.
"I have been really blown away by the way all the boys have been putting in the commitment at training and also the way it's translated to the performances on the ground.
He was reluctant to pinpoint individuals saying a broad swathe of players have impressed and Cohalan couldn't be happier with what he's seen from the squad in his first season.
"They're all keen, eager to learn and eager to buy in to what we're trying to do, which is to have a game plan with some firm structures but also make sure that each week and each training session we're bringing 100 per cent effort and commitment... and compete for every single contest on the ground or at training."
