About 11am, three ambulance crews responded to reports of an incident on Murrumbidgee River Road.
Paramedics treated a man in his 70s for injuries to his chest and neck. He was taken to Griffith Hospital in a stable condition.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said the man had hit a kangaroo while riding.
"This kind of accident just goes to show that you need to be prepared for anything on our roads," said NSW Ambulance Inspector Markus Zarins.
"Wildlife are unpredictable and that is especially true on country roads. Take care because you never know what is around the corner."
It was the second incident to occur near Carrathool after a woman was trapped when her vehicle hit a tree earlier on Sunday morning.
