Nicoll was named Wagga Cricket's best for a third straight season on Wednesday night.
It is the seventh time in eight years the 33-year-old has taken out the top honour.
No player had previously won the medal on more than three occasions, leaving Nicoll in rarefied air.
However it took a century in Wagga City's last round win over Kooringal Colts to secure the medal.
After polling the maximum three in four straight matches, South Wagga allrounder Blake Harper hit the front when he secured another three votes in the final round after posting an unbeaten 67 against St Michaels.
However his strong finish to the season, which saw the 20-year-old make at least 60 in his last four matches, wasn't enough as Nicoll went on to win the count by two votes.

Kooringal Colts allrounder Hamish Starr and Wagga City captain Josh Thompson finished in third, 10 points behind Nicoll's total of 20.
Despite edging out Harper to finish as the competition's leading runscorer, compiling 598 runs at an average of 85.43 this season, Nicoll was shocked to receive the award again.
"I've been terribly inconsistent this year," Nicoll said.
While Nicoll might have been surprised, the umpires certainly saw plenty of value in his performances this season.
He scored two centuries for Wagga City to go along with unbeaten scores of 91, 83 and 77.
Nicoll also made 75 in the round seven win over Lake Albert and snared 14 wickets for the season.
Harper finished the season strongly making 97 in South Wagga's win over Wagga City in round 13.
It was the only time he was dismissed in the last four rounds after contributing unbeaten scores of 60, 96 and 67 in the last month.
He also took 19 wickets to take out allrounder of the year.
Zac Lewis took out the bowling award with 20 wickets at an average of 13.80 while Sam Smith took out the under 19s player of the year award.
Jack Jolley was also honoured with life membership on the night.
