Twenty eight horses were nominated yesterday for the $200,000 feature including some from the nation's biggest stables.
Waterhouse could have a two-pronged attack on the cup with stablemates Entente and Hush Writer who finished just outside the placings in the Canberra Cup earlier this month.
Waller has nominated Miss Sentimental while last-start city placegetter Kiss The Bride is set to represent the Baker stable.
Albury Racing Club chief Steve Hetherton said he was delighted with both the quality and the vast array of stables set to target Albury's premier race.
"The club is extremely happy with the quality of the nominations for the cup and the quantity for both days of the carnival," Hetherton said.
"There are several gallopers in the cup that have proven to be ultra competitive in much stronger races in the city.
"It's also pleasing to see the spread of trainers coming from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, country Victoria and NSW and supporting the club.
"There are also quite a few locals in the cup including Ron Stubbs who is set to defend his crown with Spunlago.
"Obviously there is still a bit of water to go under the bridge until the final field is declared on Wednesday.
"It's meant to be perfect weather on Friday so anyone thinking of attending should go online and purchase their ticket now."
Lindsay Park will attempt to win its third Albury Gold Cup with stablemates Huntly Castle and Sikorsky representing co-trainers Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes.
Sikorsky ran second at Flemington two starts back before also finishing runner-up in last month's Wangaratta Cup behind the Matt Cumani-trained Declares War.
Declares War is also set to chase a second country cup at Albury.
Murray Bridge-trainer Michael Hickmott has nominated his in-form stayer Lord Vladivostok who has won two of his past three starts.
Lord Vladivostok notched back-to-back wins before stepping up in grade to run third in Listed company at his most recent run.
Local trainers are also well represented with Mitch Beer (Perfect Illusion), Ron Stubbs (Spunlago), Norm Loy (Takissacod) and John Whitelaw (The Doctor's Son) set to chase a home town victory.
Spunlago caused a boilover in the cup last year when he saluted at the bolters odds of 40/1 and paid in excess of $50 on the NSW TAB.
Weights for the Albury Gold Cup will be released today with the field and barrier draw to be finalised on Wednesday.
The final fields for the first day of the carnival will be released today.
Patrons are reminded tickets need to be pre-purchased online with strictly no tickets for sale at the gate on raceday.
