The Wagga City allrounder has been named Wagga's best player six times in the past seven seasons, including in the two.
However despite finishing as the competition's leading runscorer, scoring 598 at an average of 85.4, Nicoll is confident a new face will take the crown.
"I've been horribly inconsistent so I wouldn't have thought so," Nicoll said.
"From my own personal standards it has been a bit of a frustrating year.
"I'm not anticipating anything and won't even be there on the night as I haven't been invited.
"I'm not holding out for anything."
South Wagga's Blake Harper looms as one of the heir apparents.
He was in a strong position last season before being derailed by a farming accident.
He finished off the season with four scores above 60, and was unbeaten in three of them.
Nicoll also expects Wagga City teammates Josh Thompson and Ben Turner to poll well.
"I really don't know as it has been one of those years," he said.
"A few South Wagga boys have played pretty well, Blake Harper has played well and I wouldn't be surprised if Josh and Richie Turner poll very well for us."
The Brian Lawrence Medal function will be held at the RSL Club from 6pm on Wednesday.
