The Warriors actually had more safe hits than their opponents, but could only convert in two of their seven innings. The Turvey battery of Paris Hall to Amanda Gooden, supported by good fielding, managed to shut out the power-batting Warriors in their other five innings.
Turvey lead batter Charli Hall started in fine form with a hit to right field and was then advanced to second by a Leila Wadley sacrifice bunt.
However, straight forward catches by Warriors' left field Kristy Tenison to dismiss the next two Turvey batters left Hall stranded at second.
The Warriors fared no better in their responding innings, despite a safe hit from Tenison.
Turvey took an early lead, when, in the top of the second, a Jess Wendt three-bagger batted in Paris Hall.
Sam O'Neill hit a 'ginormous' hit to left field to start the Warriors second innings, but the next three batters were all regulation outs, leaving O'Neill at third and the score 1-0 in favour of Turvey.
Turvey doubled their score in the top of the third when errors and a wild pitch saw Jane Wadley cross the plate.
The Warriors unleashed their power in the bottom of the third which saw them open their scoring with a five run blitz. Jess Swaysland, Tenison O'Neill and Kymberley Dennis all had hits in this innings.
Warriors shut out Turvey in their fourth turn at bat, but then Turvey followed in kind by shutting out the Warriors.
An uncharacteristic three consecutive walks from Warriors' pitcher Montana Kearnes, coupled with a couple of errors, saw Turvey Park add another four runs and take the narrowest of leads.
A regulation 'three up-three down' of the Warriors in the bottom of the fifth ensured Turvey kept their lead.
Turvey Park was again shut out in the top of the sixth and surrendered their lead when the Warriors added four runs with Swaysland, Layhnee Kearnes, Jacinta Parmenter and Jayla Nix all hitting safely.
One last innings for each team was all that was left in a virtual 'one-innings shootout'.
Consecutive hits to Amanda Donohue, Amanda Gooden, Paris Hall and Jess Wendt contributed to Turvey scoring four runs and gaining a one-run lead again.
Needing to shut out the Warriors for a win, the Turvey players were up for the challenge.
