POLICE have charged a man who allegedly assaulted an officer in the Snowy Valleys at the weekend.

A male senior constable attended a home in Batlow about 2.30pm on Saturday where they spoke with a 21-year-old male occupant.
The 21-year-old allegedly hit the officer in the head with an unknown object as he was leaving the property, and punched him multiple times before biting him on the forearm.
A member of the public stopped to provide assistance to the officer while the man was arrested and taken to hospital for assessment.
IN OTHER NEWS:
He was not injured as a result of the incident, but the officer was taken to Wagga Base Hospital for treatment to a broken wrist and lacerations.
The 21-year-old man was arrested at a home in Batlow earlier on Monday and taken to Tumbarumba Police Station where he was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Tumbarumba Local Court on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
