A Mexican grandma has started a home cooking business out of her Lake Albert house, where she delivers dishes that are so authentic that most of her customers have never heard of them before.

Maru Navarro's exotic Mexican dishes became so popular in her church and around the neighbourhood that she decided to start Maru's Kitchen.

She got the tick of approval from Wagga City Council and launched her business in December last year.
"I make the best," Mrs Navarro said.
"Everybody in Mexico cooks, everyday. We enjoy tacos, tamales, tortas, panadas, many things we don't have here. I'm trying to bring here our culture."
Mrs Navarro used to run a restaurant over in Mexico, but came to Wagga three years ago where her family lives.
She has kept those Mexican recipes mostly the same, but tones down the spiciness for those Australians who can't handle the heat.
Mrs Navarro claims to have the only traditional Mexican dishes anywhere near Wagga, saying that other burrito joints are "tex-mex" - American-style.
