Community spirit was on show as Ladysmith, Uranquinty, Tarcutta and Kapooka public schools competed at Oasis with Mount Austin High students volunteering as timekeepers.
Kapooka principal Lynn Eacott said the carnival is one of many ways the small schools stick together.
"It provides a community for the four schools," Eacott said.
"It was a great day, the students had a wonderful time, they all gave it their best."
She said parents were fortunately able to come and cheer their children as well.
