Wagga is scheduled to race for the first time in two months on Tuesday but concerns over the number of rocks in the surface were raised at the trials on Wednesday.
Trainer-driver Brian Smith is confident the problem will be rectified to leave an improved surface.
"With another couple of weeks working on it and it will be good," Smith said.
"We can get them rocks off it, it is just the way it is, but at least I think we will be able to race on it when it rains."

FORMER Temora horseman Rickie Alchin tasted group one success with his star trotter Tough Monarch.
After winning a Great Southern Star eliminator earlier this month, Tough Monarch just held on to lead all the way in the Knight Pistol.
He held off Sundons Courage to win by a head.

As part of the build up to the feature, Albury created the field for their Greatest Pacers Cup.
Miracle Mile winner Franco Tiger was called over the line first by Allan Hull with Level Advice and Brallos Pass filling the minor placings.

The dual group one winner made it four wins in a row after almost two years away from the track.
He rated a mile rate of 1:50.8 in his latest win.

FOOTLOOK can be an enigma but put it all together to win a Vicbred bonus for owner Adam Jenkins at Warragul on Monday.
Despite breaking after the start, Footlock still went on to record a 9.6-metre win after being sent to Jess Tubbs.

FORMER Riverina pacer Western Sonador has drawn barrier one in the Newcastle Mile on Friday as he looks to book a place in the Miracle Mile.
Sent to Ellen Bartley for the first Regional Championships, Western Sonador is coming off a second last time out.
However he will need to beat Victoria Cup winner Lochinvar Art to progress.
Whereyabinboppin has been scratched from the race.
