Hard Core is coming off a third in the Braidwood Cup. Earlier this preparation he was fourth in the $242,500 Magic Millions Cup on the Gold Coast.
"He's been all up and down the east coast this preparation," Cleary said.
"Dad won the Tumut Cup once and I've won it with Mossy Girl so it's a race we've had a bit of luck with.
"His run on the Gold Coast was very, very exciting and (jockey) Craig Williams thought if he'd got clear air he could've won. He' a nice handy bush horse and he's pulled up well after Braidwood where he also had excuses."
John Kissick has the ride and from barrier three and with the sting out of the ground, Cleary expects he'll be hard to beat. The cup is the feature of the six-race card.
Hard Core was also nominated for the Sapphire Coast but Cleary said he'll go to Tumut. He also has Disconcerted and Tololi in earlier races.
Wagga's Gary Colvin has Tumut Mile winner Bravado Lass aiming for back to back wins at the track.
