Emergency services remain at the scene near the Murray Street intersection, with paramedics treating a patient in a white sedan that had come to a stop across the centre two lanes.
Police were directing the Sturt Highway traffic around the scene, filtering southbound and northbound motorists through a single lane on either side of the busy road.

They were joined by members of the Wagga Volunteer Rescue Association and Fire and Rescue NSW personnel.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance confirmed three crews responded to the two-car crash and were treating a woman, believed to be aged in her 80s, for shock.
