A Riverina man accused of multiple sexual assault offences, some dating back to 2006, has been refused bail by the court.

In December last year, detectives from Riverina Police District started an investigation into allegations of historic child sexual assault by a man in the region between 2006 and 2020.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 37-year-old man at Deniliquin Police Station about 11am on Wednesday.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted two girls - then aged between six and 16 - who were known to him, over a 14-year period, while they were in his care.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The offences include six counts of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under the age of 16 years, four counts of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under authority of offender and having sexual intercourse with person aged between 10 and 14 years.
The man is due to appear before Wagga Local Court on January 25.
