NSW Police's Traffic Response Group officers, on deployment in the region, were monitoring the Sturt Highway and conducting speed enforcement duties when a silver sedan caught their attention on Saturday morning.

The Holden Commodore was detected zipping along at 160km/h at Berry Jerry - a 100km/h stretch of highway around 25km west of Wagga - around 6.50am.

The 35-year-old Narrandera man behind the wheel had his licence suspended on the spot for six months and the car's registration plates were seized for half that period.

He was also issued a penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
