The annual residential music camp in Wagga was to be held next week but organisers have had to pull the plug on the week-long event. It would usually attract more than 120 students from all over the nation.
Three music tutors who would otherwise travel to the event are currently stuck in Victoria and South Australia, while another two are locked down in Sydney.
Event president Jeff Donovan said in a statement that the organising committee had been left "devastated by the decision" but remained supportive of what had to be done.
"It was a very difficult and disappointing decision to have to make, but the organising committtee and music director felt it was necessary in order to not jeopardise the health and safety of the participants and the people of Wagga," Mr Donovan said.
It is expected that the 35th concert will return to Wagga in January 2022.
