A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after he was injured in an excavator accident on the Sturt Highway at Borambola earlier today.
The 39-year-old man was treated by paramedics and a specialist medical team for multiple injuries including chest and pelvis before being airlifted to Canberra in a serious, but stable condition.
NSW Ambulance inspector Eamonn Purcell said the people at the scene did a great job to assist the man until paramedics arrived.
"Unfortunately, these types of accidents that involve heavy machinery have the potential to cause significant injuries," he said.
"Even though the damage may look minor on the outside, it's what's done under the surface that causes us the most concern."
