MANGOPLAH-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes president Jesse Cunningham believes junior and senior football being played on the same day across the board is inevitable as the club looks to bring Sunday football back to the Riverina League schedule.

While the Goannas' preference is still to play senior fixtures on Saturdays, the benefits of scheduling games on Sundays to link with the juniors are enticing to the club.
Cunningham said one Sunday home game against Coolamon has been locked in, but there could be scope for up to four to be arranged.
"Now we've got a new ground out there it gives us the option to play juniors and seniors on the same day," Cunningham said.
"Realistically and logistically, I think having all footy on the one day is the way we have to go for the sustainability of country footy, whether it be Saturday or Sunday.
"At this point of time we still prefer Saturday for our home games. A lot of people's social life is Saturdays and country footy is all about that, but it would make it so much easier to have it all on the one day for volunteers.
"People would whinge if it was all on Sundays, but generally the people who whinge aren't the ones doing all the work.
"If you were to say to other clubs here's ten extra volunteers, they would jump at that straight away.
"Every year it gets harder to find volunteers. We're lucky to have a lot of great volunteers but in this day and age everyone is busy with their own lives, which is understandable."
Cunningham also feels playing junior and senior football on the same day would make the transition easier for youngsters.
"Seeing a few familiar faces could make it easier for players to make that transition from the under-15s through to seniors," Cunningham said.
"It can be daunting for a young kid to come into seniors and not knowing what to expect, but if they've got that bit of familiarity it makes it a lot easier.
"We've only had one committee meeting since it came up in discussions, but I think we've got the ability to change it from a Saturday to Sunday looking at the junior and senior draws."
