The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast thunderstorms becoming severe with the risk of heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail on Sunday afternoon and evening, with Griffith and Wagga "likely" to experience those conditions.
NSW SES spokeswoman Ilana Pender-Rose said the organisation had completed four floodwater rescues for people in vehicles since New Year's Eve.
"We're looking at the forecast of a wet week ahead and storms across much of the state [on Sunday] and we're asking people to get ready as this clearly isn't over," she said.
"A lot of people are coming home from holidays as well and they might be driving in areas and along roads that they might not be familiar with, so we're asking them to be nice and careful , plan ahead and stay nice and safe.
"We're asking people to never drive, walk or ride through floodwater. Just 15 centimeters of floodwater can start to float a small car, it can wash out roads that lie beneath and it can contain all sorts of nasty things."
Parkes and surrounding areas were with by winds of up to 158 kilometres per hour and 32 millimetres of rain withing a 60-minute period on Saturday.
