Storytime is an entertaining and educational selection of activities, craft and picture books, designed for one- to five- year-olds and their caregivers.
In March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Storytime moved to an online model.
In 2021, with careful adherence to guidelines set out by NSW Health and the State Library of NSW, physical Storytime will return in a COVID-safe format.
Storytime will take place in the downstairs Children's Area, with physical distancing measures in place.
Each session will be strictly limited to 30 people in total, including children.
Storytime remains free to attend, but online bookings will be essential, and made available 24 hours before each session.
Sessions will be at the usual times of 10am and 11am, every Wednesday and Friday, during school terms.
To minimise the risk of infection, staff will replace or sanitise all furniture between sessions, and each child will be provided with a craft activity in a take-home kit.
If you have attended Storytime in the past, we are really looking forward to your return, and we are confident that all your favourite aspects of Storytime will be waiting for you.
The library's presenters remain enthusiastic tale-tellers, and excellent at animal noises.
If 2021 will be your first year attending Storytime, we welcome you to a safe gathering that combines the joys of language, pictures and sound with early literacy development.
Before or after your Storytime visit, you are invited to use the Junior collection, which is spread throughout the library's downstairs level, and includes everything from board books to non-fiction and DVDs.
Library membership is free - join online at bit.ly/joinwaggalibrary, or talk to library staff.
