The remains were found near Snake Valley on Tuesday by detectives from the Missing Person Squad and Search and Rescue Squad, who conducted a search on December 21 and 22, a Victoria Police media report states.
Around 1.30pm on December 22, the remains were discovered in a mine shaft near Kelly's Track.
The remains are yet to be formally identified.
On Wednesday, detectives spoke to a 31-year-old Mount Clear woman in relation to Kobie's disappearance, however she has been released without charge.
Investigators are expecting to speak to other people in coming days.
Police have long held the belief that Kobie had been murdered and had publicly stated so on a number of occasions.
Detectives have already searched a number of properties and spoke to a number of people in relation to the 43-year-old's disappearance in April.
They have been able to confirm Kobie was last seen alive at a property on Hickman Street on April 28.
However, it was not until November that the search started to gather momentum.
Police first went public in the hunt for information on November 22, where Kobie's mother Kathy Snowball pleaded for information about her daughter.
Kobie had not had a great deal of contact with her family for some time, hence why the missing person's report took months to be filed.
"She had been estranged from the family for quite a while, but if she ever did run into family members, she would always speak to them," Ms Snowball said in November.
"I last saw her fleetingly in March this year, she was struggling." Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
